HPV affects about 80 million people in the U.S. The HPV vaccine protects against cancers that can result from HPV. However, the number of people who get the vaccine each year falls short from the national goal of 80%. A key to strengthening vaccine uptake in adolescents is by understanding barriers to vaccine acceptance and what types of information parents need in order to feel confident in their decision. This study aims to communicate evidence to parents through Twitter in order to address some of the barriers parents experience when making the decision to vaccinate.
As part of the development for this project, we recruited 6 parent advisors from across the country through Twitter to serve on a Parent Advisory Board to assist with content creation.
